Sumit Nagal gets top billing at PMRDA Powered MahaOpen ATP Challenger 100 Men’s International Tennis Championship

Pune, February 17, 2024 : World No 93 and India’s top player Sumit Nagal will lead a tough field in the main draw of the PMRDA Powered Maha Open ATP Challenger 100 Men’s International Tennis Championship which will be organized by Maharashtra State Lawn tennis Association (MSLTA) in association with the Department of Sports and Youth Services Govt of Maharashtra at the Mhalunge Balewadi Tennis Stadium

The premier high Level ATP Challenger which is sponsored by Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) is the third of a series of ATP Challenger 100 events held in India. The previous tournaments were held at Chennai and Bengaluru .

Nagal will be followed by Ajdukovic, Duje of Croatia (125), Adam Walton, Australia (153), Valentin Vacherot Monaco (173), Dalibor Svrcina Czech Republic (174), Oliver Crawford, Great Britain (190 ), Dane Sweeny Australia (190) and Federico Gaio, of Italy (194) in the seeding list

Local boy Arjun Kadhe and his partner Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan have been given the top billing in the doubles

Mr Prashant Sutar Chairman of MSLTA announced the third wildcard in the singles main draw to Niki Poonacha . The two doubles wildcards were awarded to upcoming Indian players local boy Siddanth Banthia and his partner Parikshit Somani and the pair of Kartik Ganta Reddy and Karan Singh

Tournament Director Sunder Iyer said the PMR supported Maha Open Challenger will have 3 former Top 50 players playing in tournament which includes former World No 17 Bernard Tomic of Australia. former world no 24 Vasek Pospisil of Canada and former world No 42 Benjamin Bonzi of France

In the qualifying first round Bonzi will take on local wildcard Siddanth Banthia , while Tomic will take on another local wildcard Vishal Balsekar.

Local sixteen year old Arnav Paparkar who is the third wild card will take On Felix Gill of Great Britain while Pospisil takes on Chun-Hsin Tseng

The timings of play will be from 11am onwards. Entry for spectators to witness the matches is free
