Sunburn festival to boost tourism in Pune

Pune- Observing diverse conversion of Pune from city of pensioners to  that of youths,  ‘Sunburn’ has been organized in Kesnand near Wagholi during 28th to 31st December 2016.

The festival of music, entertainment and gusto will last for 3 days in Pune. This festival has taken Pune city on global map. Such international festivals like Sunburn gives boost to the tourism industry at large.

Pune is known as cultural capital of Maharashtra state and observed as hub of literature, arts, music and Marathi theatre. Pune has created its mark in every field and being known for its deep cultural roots and have created employment opportunities on massive scale. As a cultural hub many cultural events like dance programmes, singing competitions, elocution competitions keeps the city live.

‘Pune Festival’ which was started by Maharashtra Tourism Development Board about 28 years ago is one of them. Pune festival has s feat distinct identity to the city and it has added new feather in cultural development of Pune. Maharashtra Tourism Development Board has also been successfully organising ‘Pune International Festival’. Apart from these small events like Strawberry festival, Waari Festival, Fort Syclothone have been arranged by Maharashtra Tourism Development Board throughout the year. Pune has been keep on changing on time to time, at one point of time it was known as city of pensioners’ now has become educational hub and IT hub.

As time has has been changing people mentality, socio-cultural dimensions witnessed a revolution which got mirrored in cultural festivals. Sunburn festival had been organised in Goa from the last nine years, but this year, the Goa government banned it due to some disputes of taxes.

However , CEO of Percept Limited which organises Sunburn, denied that there was any tax dues.

“We have already paid taxes but the dispute is with the local police. We have still offer to organize Sunburn in Goa from next year. A controversy erupted and demanded a ban, claiming that it is against Indian culture because it encouraged consumption of drugs. But this time we are   keeping in mind all sensitive issues. We will not allow any banned substances during the event”, the organiser said.
