Surprise Showers Lash Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, Forecast Calls for More Rain
Pune, 28th December 2024: On top of the cold, Punekars experienced a surprise today as rain lashed the entire city in the evening, affecting many parts of the district. With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting rain a few days ago, Pune had been cloudy during the day for the past four days.
Today, around 5 PM, rain hit Pune city, including Pimpri Chinchwad. Areas like Shivajinagar, Ghorpadi, Aundh, and others in Pune city saw rain, while Pimpri Chinchwad also experienced showers. Although the rain may provide some relief from the cold and dry weather for many, farmers’ concerns are mounting due to the untimely downpour, with hailstorms and heavy rain reported in some parts of Maharashtra.
The rain is expected to continue for two days, after which the IMD predicts a return of cold weather, with the minimum temperature expected to drop. As it stands, the IMD predicts that people’s New Year’s Eve plans will not be spoiled by rain.
