Sustainable Skill Development for career progression of youth important – Shravan Hardikar

Pune 30 July 2017 : While we focus on skilling on entry level jobs , it is equally important to bridge the skill gap at middle level to ensure successful career progression of youth opined PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar (IAS) . He was speaking at the Valedictory function of the two day Skill Conclave organized by Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) at Grand Sheraton Hotel . Dr Anand Sardeshmukh Director General MCCIA , Vice Presidents Ajay Mehta and Deepak Karandikar , Hon. Secretary Rujuta Jagtap were present on the occasion .

Shravan Hardikar said that we live in an era of  a lot of disruptive technologies and global competition , we should ensure that preparedness of  SMEs through skilling. And skilling should not just at entry level but it is equally important to build skills at every stage to improve retention.

Hardikar added that entrepreneurship skills come from within, but today’s new age entrepreneurs need to have auxiliary skills as well. For eg.  With GST being implemented today all entrepreneurs may not have in-depth accounting skills but must understand the basics of accounting and taxation.

 

Dr Anant Sardeshmukh gave information on the existing initiatives and future initiatives of MCCIA with regards to skilling . The two day event covered many topics including Social Entrepreneurship , Role of Banking in shaping enterprises , role of venture capitalists , incubators and accelerators , sector wise skilling initiatives etc .
