Swarnim Bharat Yatra: IRCTC’s Special Tourist Train to Cover Sabarmati Ashram, Statue of Unity, Ajanta Caves and More from Aug 14
New Delhi, 11th July 2025: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will launch a special tourist train under the Bharat Gaurav scheme, titled Swarnim Bharat Yatra, beginning August 14, 2025, from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station to commemorate India’s Independence Day. The 9 nights/10 days journey is designed to cover prominent sites linked with the country’s freedom struggle and heritage.
The tour’s first stop is Ahmedabad, where passengers will visit the iconic Sabarmati Ashram, associated with Mahatma Gandhi, and the 15th-century Adalaj Stepwell. The itinerary continues with excursions to the Sun Temple at Modhera and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rani Ki Vav in Patan.
In Kevadia, tourists will experience the world’s tallest statue — the Statue of Unity — and the Sardar Sarovar Dam. The next leg includes a visit to Pune, featuring the historic Aga Khan Palace, a landmark of the Quit India Movement, and Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga.
The train will then proceed to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), where the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, both UNESCO-listed, and Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga will be covered. The tour concludes with stops at Jhansi Fort and the heritage town of Orchha, before returning to Delhi.
The Deluxe AC Tourist Train offers 1st AC, 2nd AC, and 3rd AC classes for 150 passengers. Facilities include dining cars, shower cubicles, sensor-enabled washrooms, CCTV surveillance, and foot massagers. Boarding stations include Delhi Safdarjung, Gurgaon, Rewari, Ringas, Phulera, and Ajmer.
The package rates are ₹71,585 (3AC), ₹81,675 (2AC), ₹94,845 (1AC Cabin), and ₹1,01,430 (1AC Coupe). The all-inclusive cost covers rail travel, 3-star hotel stays, vegetarian meals, local transfers, sightseeing by AC vehicles, insurance, and the services of IRCTC tour managers.
