Swift Action by Pune Police Averts Suicide Attempt

Chandan Nagar, 27th April 2026: Prompt action by police personnel helped save the life of a man who attempted suicide at his residence in Chandan Nagar on Sunday evening.

According to police, constables Anil Talware (PC 2817) and Satish Katari (PC 779) were on Mahatma Phule Marshal day patrol duty when they received a suicide attempt alert at around 7:08 pm. Upon contacting the caller, they were informed that his father had locked himself inside the house and was attempting to take his own life.

The police team immediately rushed to the location. With the help of a welder, they broke open the door and found the man attempting suicide by hanging. The personnel quickly intervened, brought him down safely, and made him sit on a bed.

They then contacted the man’s relatives and ensured that he was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Later, he was brought to the police station, where officers provided counselling and handed him over to his family.

Senior Police Inspector Nilesh Badakh of Chandan Nagar Police Station said that the swift and courageous response of the personnel averted a tragedy. The two policemen were felicitated for their commendable work.
