Take immediate measures to reduce odour from Adharwadi Waste Depot :  Fadnavis

Mumbai, 8 July 2019: The municipal corporation should take immediate measures to prevent odour and the garbage problem of Adharwadi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today instructed. Mr. Fadnavis also ordered to set up the mechanism for this. He also directed to start the waste depots in alternative places Barave and Umbarde as soon as possible.

A meeting was organized in Sahyadri State Guest House under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in connection with the issues related to Adharwadi garbage depot. Minister of State for Urban Development Yogesh Sagar, MLA Narendra Pawar, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department Manisha Mhaiskar Patankar, Commissioner of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation Govind Bodke, various NGOs and citizens of the Adharwadi area were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that in order to close Adharwadi waste depot,a time bound plan needs to be prepared.

For this, actions would be initiated to start Umbarde and Barave garbage depot. It should be completed promptly. Similarly, a mechanism should be set up for the recycling of garbage at local level in order to ensure that less garbage would be thrown in the garbage depot.
