Talathi Arrested by ACB Pune for Accepting Rs 2 Lakh Bribe in Land Record Case
Yavat, 11th November 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Pune has arrested Deepak Navnath Ajabe (39), a Talathi from Devdi in Daund taluka, for allegedly accepting a ₹2 lakh bribe to make corrections in a farmer’s 7/12 land record extract.
According to ACB officials, the complainant had purchased agricultural land (Gat No. 1506) in Delwadi in 2012 and applied in August 2024 for necessary corrections in the land record. Despite multiple follow-ups, the process was deliberately delayed. Ajabe allegedly demanded ₹4 lakh to make the required changes, later agreeing to accept ₹2 lakh as the first instalment.
Following a detailed verification of the complaint, the ACB set up a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe at Sairaj Canteen in Kedgaon Chowfula, Daund.
A case has been registered at Yavat Police Station under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (ACB Pune range) Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional SP Ajit Patil, and DySP Arjun Bhosale, with Police Inspectors Asavari Shedge and Shailaja Shinde leading the team on the ground.
