Pune, 11th November 2025: The state-appointed inquiry committee investigating the alleged misappropriation of 40 acres of Mahar Watan land in Mundhwa near Koregaon Park held its first meeting on Monday. The panel members were directed to examine irregularities and discrepancies in the documents related to the controversial land transaction.

The case involves Amadea Enterprises LLP, a company in which Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, holds 99% shares. The firm purchased around 40 acres of land in the Mundhwa area for about Rs 300 crore whereas the market price is Rs 1,800 crore. As per legal provisions, such land— earlier classified as Mahar Watan—cannot be sold, transferred, or mortgaged without prior permission from the government. Officials have also raised concerns that the transaction value was allegedly underreported to evade stamp duty. They had also got an exemption under the pretext that it would set up an IT Park and thus paid only Rs 500 as stamp duty.

Following the revelations, the Department of Registration and Stamp Duty promptly took cognizance of the issue, after which the Maharashtra government constituted a five-member inquiry committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge. The committee is expected to submit its report to the government within a month.

Monday’s meeting marked the formal start of the investigation. Present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge, Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Jamabandi Commissioner Dr. Suhas Diwase, Inspector General of Registration and Stamps Ravindra Binwade, and Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi.

According to officials, the committee has been tasked with determining whether any procedural violations or irregularities occurred in the transaction and identifying those responsible, if any. It has also been asked to suggest measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

During the meeting, Kharge reportedly sought detailed information on discrepancies found in the registration and ownership documents. He also instructed that all discussions and findings remain confidential until the committee’s report is formally submitted to the state government.

Sources confirmed that all officials involved have been directed to maintain strict confidentiality and not share any information publicly until the inquiry concludes.
