Pune, 11th April 2025: Following the tragic death of Tanisha Bhise, a pregnant woman who was allegedly denied emergency treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, her family has made five urgent demands to the government, calling the incident a result of not just medical negligence but a broader failure of the healthcare system.

The incident has triggered public outrage and intensified scrutiny on the hospital’s administration. Tanisha’s family has accused doctors and hospital staff of insensitivity, systemic negligence, and violation of privacy rights.

The Family’s Key Demands:
1. Termination and legal action against Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas The family insists that a resignation is not enough. They are demanding immediate termination of Dr. Ghaisas, cancellation of his medical license, and criminal charges for allegedly causing death due to negligence.

2. Action against those who leaked confidential data The family has accused several hospital officials — including Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, Dr. Anuja Joshi, Dr. Sameer Jog, administrator Sachin Vyavahare, and Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas — of leaking internal documents and spreading false information about Tanisha and her family. They are calling for police and State Women’s Commission intervention for breach of data privacy and defamation.

3. Prevent escape of the accused They have urged that the Sassoon Hospital inquiry committee immediately submit its findings to the police so that arrests can be made before any of the accused flee the country. The family wants proper criminal charges to be filed without delay.

4. Establish a patient support system in all hospitals To prevent similar tragedies, the family is demanding that the government implement a dedicated patient support system in every hospital. This mechanism should guide patients and families about their rights, available services, and emergency protocols. The family says this would be a true tribute to Tanisha’s memory.

5. Immediate release of pending reports Two official reports related to the case are still awaited. The family is demanding their prompt release and urges the government to take strong preventive measures to ensure that no other patient suffers a similar fate.

As public pressure grows, the state government is yet to respond to the family’s demands. The case continues to raise broader questions about medical accountability, patient rights, and the role of oversight in charitable hospitals.
