‘Tappa Discourse’ in ‘Vasantotsav Vimarsha 2022’

Pune, January 12, 2022 : Vasantrao Deshpande Pratishthan organizes ‘Vasantotsav Vimarsha’ every year featuring a thematic lecture-demonstration or workshop. In this series, ‘Tappa Discourse’, a special session on Tappa, a rare form of Hindustani music will be presented this year. ‘Tappa Discourse’ will take place on Wednesday, 19th January 2022 from 6 pm to 9 pm. The venue is Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha, Hirabaug in Pune. All music students, musicians and connoisseurs are invited with the following COVID restrictions. The seating is on a first-come-first basis.

The first part consists of a performance by Vidushi Kalpana Zokarkar in which she will present select compositions of Tappa, Tap-Khayal, and other genres. She will be accompanied by Bharat Kamat (Tabla) and Dr Chaitanya Kunte (Harmonium). In the second part, renowned musicologist Dr Chaitanya Kunte will present a lecture-demonstration on Tappa and its varieties with some audio-visual material.
