Tata Motors Unveils Punch EV: New Milestone in Electrification

5th January 2024: Tata Motors is gearing up for an electrifying start to 2024 with the unveiling of Punch EV, marking the company’s inaugural new model launch for the year. This introduction represents Tata’s fourth all-electric car and second electric SUV, rapidly gaining attention nationwide. The commencement of bookings for Punch EV began today, offering eager customers the opportunity to reserve their vehicles through Tata’s EV-exclusive showroom, standard showrooms, or the company’s official website for a minimal booking amount of just Rs 21,000.

As the pioneering model on Tata’s latest Gen 2 EV platform, known as Active.EV, Punch EV’s anticipated on-road price remains undisclosed officially. However, based on speculations and the car’s features, the expected starting price is approximately Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). Variations in pricing may occur based on state and registration charges, with precise on-road prices set for revelation post-launch, providing specific details per state and selected model.

Stepping into the cabin of the Tata Punch EV reveals a captivating layered dashboard design, notably showcasing an all-new 10.25-inch infotainment screen. While higher-end variants feature a shiny rotary drive selector, a 360-degree camera, leather-like seats, connected car technology, wireless charger, and a host of safety features, including six airbags, ABS, and ESC, among others, lower-priced variants incorporate a 7.0-inch infotainment screen and digital cluster. This electric SUV boasts an appealing exterior design reminiscent of the Nexon EV, flaunting distinctive elements like a charging socket at the front, a unique grille and bumper design, a Y-shaped brake light setup, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

With an array of trims and variants such as Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ in the standard range, and Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ in the Long Range variant, the Tata Punch EV offers consumers ample choices. Expected to compete directly with the Citroen EC3, this vehicle is anticipated to be priced between the Nexon EV MR and Tiago EV MR, catering to the modern, feature-rich, and budget-friendly electric SUV segment. The final verdict on the car’s suitability concerning individual budgets will be clearer once the official prices are unveiled post-launch.
