Tata Power Club Enerji celebrates Club Enerji Carnival 2017

National, 19th September 2017: Club Enerji, Tata Power’s nationwide resource and energy conservation movement, today organised its annual event ‘Club Enerji Carnival’ that comprises of a kaleidoscope of activities such as project displays, quiz and performances by school children from across the country to spread the message of saving environment and doing their bit for nation building. The purpose of this event is to enable the club to propagate its message of energy and resource conservation in a fun and engaging manner. More than 400 students across six cities — Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad — participated in the carnival.

As part of the carnival, Club Enerji organized a national Quiz competition 2017 ‘Energy Q’, for school children across various locations. The grand finale of the competition was held in Mumbai and was graced by the presence of Ms. Shalini Singh, Head – Corporate Communications, Tata Power and Mr. Mahiar Mehta, Head – Corporate Administration, Tata Power; in addition to other members of the Tata Power leadership. Five rounds of quizzing preceded the grand finale during which four schools were shortlisted from the initial 200 participating schools. The quiz, aims at reaching out to more and more school children and create awareness about resource conservation. Along with Energy Q, the students also participated in an Energy Carnival, where they showcased their ideas and solutions through projects, demonstrations and working models. Calcutta Boy’s High School, Kolkata emerged as the winner, and was crowned as the Tata Power Enerji Q Champion.

Commenting on the success of the initiative, Mr Anil Sardana, CEO & MD, Tata Power said, “Club Enerji Carnival brings together students across India and provides them with a platform to showcase their zeal in the area of energy conservation and resource conservation.  The enthusiastic involvement by the students in these activities to spread the message is remarkable and has contributed largely towards making this a national movement. The carnival is a celebration of all the efforts put in by the children throughout the year in successfully spreading the message of conservation. 10 years ago, we launched Club Enerji initiative to explain the benefits of conservation to the children and work towards bettering lives. We will continue to organize initiatives that will educate the future citizens to make this world a better place to live in. Club Enerji Carnival is a National Event of Tata Power Club Enerji comprising of Enerji Quiz competition, project displays & performances by school children from various schools across cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru & Ahmedabad. Enerji Quiz is the key highlight of the event comprising of various rounds and aims at reaching out to more and more school children while creating awareness about energy conservation through means of education. School children part of Tata Power Club Enerji also setup project displays showcasing their understanding on topics of energy & resource conservation. The Carnival also showcases the lively and creative side of students with dances, plays and one acts performed to the audience.

The Club Enerji programme has reached out to over 500 schools in India and has sensitised over 15 million citizens, who in turn have helped save more than 21 MU of electricity till date. The club also has 1,337 self-sustaining mini Club Enerjis and has won several national and international accolades.
