Tata Power organises Skill Development Program for youth in Mulshi, Maharashtra

Pune, 13th May 2016: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power Company, has always undertaken various initiatives to empower youth with employable skills, in order to improve the quality of life and uplift the economic conditions of its surrounding communities. In line with this commitment, Tata Power organised a Skill Development Program on farming skills and techniques for the youth from Mulshi lake area.

The objective of the initiative was to create awareness about employment opportunities in the agriculture sector among the youth and imparting them with the required skills and techniques. The program started with experts sensitizing the youth about various government schemes and subsidies related to farming. It also demonstrated organic farming techniques and plantation of flower plants, fruit plants and vegetables.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Mahesh Paranjpe- Chief – Hydro & Renewable Operations, Tata Power, said “Tata Power has always taken pride in the enabling, developing and supporting the community in order to enhance their livelihood by providing them employment and employability opportunities. We are confident that the youth from these communities will benefit through this initiative and will explore several employment opportunities. We look forward to working on more such initiatives aimed at providing sustainable livelihood to the youth of this nation.”

The program was organised by BVDU Social Sciences Centre, Pune on behalf of Tata Power Community Development Trust. Agriculturist Mr. Ramchandra Bhumkar along with Government Krishi Sahayak Mr. Dattatraya Kalangar shared their experience and provided guidance about the farming skills and techniques required in this part of Mulshi Taluka and provided valuable information to the participants.
