Tata Technologies renews educational enrichment program affecting thousands of Pune-area students

Pune, October 30 : – Tata Technologies signed an agreement with the Rotary Club of Poona North to provide 1.84 crores in funding to outfit Pune-area schools with innovative e-learning platforms.

The initiative, the School and Teaching Excellence Program (STEP) is aimed at providing greater educational opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to students from economically challenged communities. In less than a year since the program kicked off, it has enhanced classroom technology and curriculum resources for some 172,617 students.

Warren Harris, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Technologies said, “The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and through the Schools Teaching and Excellence Program Tata Technologies has committed to making sure the future of Pune is bright. Working with Rotary to make this program a reality has been an incredible experience.”

Recognizing this as a high impact project, The Rotary Foundation presented a matching grant of $120,000.

“Renewing our agreement with Tata Technologies is another important milestone for Rotary Club of Poona North. We have seen change in the children of economically marginalized communities over the last year because of their STEP initiative and we are glad to be signing this agreement to further support their initiative for children in the Pune district,” said Mr. Ravee Dhotre, District Literacy Committee Chair of Rotary Club.

Anubhav Kapoor, General Counsel and Company Secretary, Tata Technologies said, “It is an honor to be recognized for the work we do to support the communities where we live and work. We aim to provide a platform for learning and growth for local children in need, and we view it as a privilege to be able to make a long-lasting impression on their futures through STEP.”

Mr. Warren Harris along with Mr. Anubhav Kapoor were honored with The Paul Harris Fellow recognition by the Rotary Club of Poona North. Rotarians designate a Paul Harris Fellow to recognize a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives and mission of The Rotary Foundation to build world understanding and peace.

Mr. S. D. Pradhan, former CEO of Tata Technologies, was also felicitated with the Vocational Service Excellence Award.
