Tatjana Maria wins singles , Ankita -Prarthana Lift doubles title at 22nd edition of NECC Deccan ITF $40000 Women’s Tennis Tournament

Pune, January 28, 2023: Topseeded Tatjana Maria of Germany and Indian Olympians Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare won the singles and doubles titles at the 22nd edition of the NECC Deccan ITF $40000 Women’s Tennis Tournament India’s longest-running international tennis tournament organised under the auspices of the ITF, AITA and MSLTA by Deccan Gymkhana and sponsored by National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts.

In the singles finals lasting 1 hour and 38 minutes top seeded , semifinalist at Wimbledon, WTA Comeback player of the year and world ranked 71 Tatjana Maria outplayed Nigina Abduraimova of Uzbekistan 6-1, 6-1 in a one sided final

Olympians and top seeded Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare came back from loss of the first set to get past a fighting Kazakhstan pair of Gozal Ainitdinova and Zhibek Kulambayeva 4-6, 7-5, 10-8(59 min) to win their second title together after coming back and the first of the year

The Singles winners got a trophy and 70 points and $6094 (₹5 Lakhs) as prize money while the runner up got a trophy and 42 points and $3257 (₹2.65lakhs) . doubles winners got a trophy and 70 points and $2230 (₹1.82lakhs) while the runner up got a trophy, 42 points and $1115 (₹91000) .

The prizes were given away at the hands of DCP Smartana Patil ( IPS ), Mr.Sunder Iyer, Hon.Sec.of MSLTA, Mr Ashwin Girme Tournament Director and tennis secretary of Deccan Gymkhana, Mr.Mihir Kelkar, Finance Secretary of Deccan Gymkhana, ITF Supervisor Sheetal Iyer, Leena Nageshkar were present on the occassion.
