Pune, 1st October 2025: The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has filed a formal complaint with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the state Labour Ministry, raising concerns over alleged illegal mass terminations by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

According to NITES, around 2,500 employees in Pune alone have been forced to resign under pressure, without adherence to the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. “No notice, no compensation, and no government intimation have been provided,” said Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES. “These actions have left thousands of families facing sudden financial and emotional distress. Many employees with over a decade of loyal service are now struggling to pay EMIs, school fees, and meet basic household needs.”

Saluja described the situation as “a climate of fear, anxiety, and hopelessness across the IT workforce in Maharashtra.” He added, “What TCS calls ‘restructuring’ is in reality the destruction of livelihoods. Behind every forced resignation is a family torn apart by fear, uncertainty, and helplessness. These are employees who gave the prime of their lives to the company, only to be discarded without dignity or due process.”

The complaint follows an earlier representation to the Union Ministry of Labour & Employment. The Ministry, in response (Letter No. L-51027/01/2025-IR(IMP-II), dated 18 August 2025), had forwarded the issue to the Maharashtra Labour Department for urgent action.

NITES has pledged to continue supporting the affected employees. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with them and will ensure their voices echo from the streets to the highest offices of power until justice is delivered,” Saluja said.
