TCS Manager Manav Sharma Dies By Suicide Amid Harassment Allegations Against Wife

Agra, 9th March 2025: Manav Sharma, a 30-year-old Senior Process Associate at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Mumbai, died by suicide on February 24, 2025, at his family home in Agra. Before taking the extreme step, Sharma recorded a seven-minute video accusing his wife, Nikita Sharma, of harassment and infidelity. The incident has raised concerns about mental health issues among men and alleged misuse of marital laws.
Manav married Nikita on January 30, 2024. Initially, their relationship appeared stable, but tensions reportedly escalated over time. According to Manav’s family, Nikita allegedly threatened him with false accusations and expressed a desire to live with her boyfriend. On February 23, the couple traveled to Agra from Mumbai. After dropping Nikita at her maternal home that evening, Manav returned to his house and was allegedly threatened by her family over the phone. The following morning, he was found hanging in his room.
In his video message, Manav apologized to his parents and blamed his wife for mentally torturing him. “Please think about men,” he said in the recording. “They become very lonely.” His father, Narendra Sharma, a retired Air Force officer, filed a complaint against Nikita and her family under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment of suicide).
Nikita has denied the allegations and claimed that Manav struggled with alcohol addiction and had attempted suicide previously. “He used to drink excessively and had tried to harm himself before. I saved him multiple times,” she said in her statement.
Suraj Rai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Agra City), confirmed that the case is under investigation: “We are examining all angles based on the complaint and evidence.” Meanwhile, Manav’s sister Akanksha described him as a sensitive person who loved painting and music. She refuted claims of abuse within the family and stated that they had tried to mediate the couple’s issues earlier this year.
The case has sparked debates about men’s mental health and marital discord in India. Activists have called for balanced legal reforms to address such situations while ensuring justice for victims of harassment or abuse. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances leading to Manav Sharma’s death.
