Tech Update: WhatsApp Introduces Call Scheduling Feature, Enhancing Professional Use
New Delhi, 21st August 2025: The World’s most widely used messaging platform, WhatsApp, has rolled out a call scheduling feature that enables users to plan voice and video calls, further aligning the app with professional meeting tools such as Zoom and Google Meet.
The option, now visible in the Calls tab under the “+” menu, allows users to set a specific date and time for their calls. Once scheduled, participants receive automatic notifications, eliminating the need for manual reminders. The feature works for both individual and group calls, aiming to streamline coordination for personal as well as workplace discussions.
The update also comes with Google Calendar integration, ensuring scheduled calls appear in users’ calendars with full details like participant names, call type, and timing.
Earlier this year, WhatsApp highlighted its growing role in India’s digital ecosystem by reporting the banning of 9.8 million accounts in June alone, nearly two million of which were proactively removed before user complaints.
With these updates, WhatsApp is positioning itself as more than a messaging platform—evolving into a comprehensive communication hub for both everyday users and professionals.
New Professional Features:
Alongside scheduling, WhatsApp has introduced several enhancements modeled on professional conferencing platforms:
Raise Hand option for smoother participation during group calls.
Emoji reactions for quick, non-verbal responses.
Invite link sharing directly from the Calls tab.
Organizer notifications when participants join via a link.
All scheduled and live calls will continue to be protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring user privacy.
How to Schedule a Call on WhatsApp:
Open the Calls tab in WhatsApp.
Select the contact or group.
Tap Schedule Call and choose voice or video call.
Set the desired date and time, then confirm to send the invite.
