In a blistering attack on Sahara Shree Subroto Roy, political commentator Tehseen Poonawalla has alleged  that if the Sahara head  had no relationship with Prime Minister (PM) MODI, then why was he given 5 star facilities in Tihar jail.

Addressing a huge gathering on Demonetisation, Poonawalla claimed in front rousing audience which included  Pune City Congress President and former MLA Ramesh Bagwe and Deputy  mayor Mukari Algude that the Sahara boss was provided every luxury inside Tihar by the Modi government he had solid evidence of the same to corroborate his claim.

Poonawalla further said “ this is the reason why the Income Tax investigation into the Sahara diary was closed  by the present day government. I say this with utmost responsibility that the Sahara boss Shree Subroto Roy lived a life of absolute luxury in the Tihar jail. Shree Roy was given facilities much beyond what the hon SC allowed him to. He was treated like a VVIP  prisoner living in a 5 star hotel. When I visited Mr Roy in Ti har , I was shocked to see Mr Roy smoking, a buffet was laid for me and there were even women who had come to meet him. I was told a cricketer who then had just got married also came with his wife to seek shree Roys blessing and was given a huge cheque by Mr Roy.  If Mr Roy had no relationship with the present government how was he allowed these facilities ,” Poonawalla alleged.

The country’s apex Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently had declined to provide minutes of the meeting where the decision to demonetise the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes was taken under the Right to Information (RTI) act query filed by youth icon Tehseen Poonawalla. The bank in a written reply stated “ The information sought is exempt from disclosure under section 8(1)(a) of the RTI 2005 . Based on the Poonawalla’s RTI query, former finance minister P Chidambaram conducted an official press conference and the Congress Party demanded that the RBI put out the minutes.

A few days ago, in a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged ill-planned demonetization, youth icon and social activist Tehseen Poonawala had said that in the name of so called measures against black money, Modi has made the banks as ‘Dalal’ (agent) who are exchanging banned currency notes for commission causing untold harassment to the common man. Poonawala also dared the government and banks to file cases against him in court, if they find his statement wrong.
