MEDIA VISIT TO COLLEGE OF MILITARY ENGINEERING  (CME), PUNE

A team of Media personnel visited College of Military Engineering  (CME), Pune on                  09 Jan 2017. CME is a Premier training institution on all engineering aspects of Indian Army. CME trains personnel of the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Para Military Forces and friendly foreign counties. CME is one of the finest Categories ‘A’ establishment of Indian Army and has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A’ grading since 2010. The College has embraced modern technology be it in the spheres of Education, Combat Engineering, Construction Technology and war fighting assets. In consonance with the aim of encouraging healthy lifestyles, the College has a state of art Sports infrastructure which includes International Standard. Army Rowing Node (ARN), Sailing Club, Squash Courts and Multi Sports Complex.  In addn, sports facilities for Football, Hockey, Tennis and Swimming are also held at this College. 
 
Maj Gen HK Arora, VSM Deputy Commandant during his interaction with media briefed them about the history of CME and its evolution as a premier training institution on all engineering aspects for the Indian Army. Deputy Commandant also highlighted the participation of the College towards nation building in general and development of Pune City in particular. CME has also assisted the local administration in disaster relief/rescue operations on numerous occasions in the past. In keeping with the ethos of promoting a clean and green environment, CME has taken the Swach Bharat Abhiyan to a new level and is a role model. He highlighted that two days in a week are observed as Dry Days wherein no vehicles are used within premises of CME during office hours and all residents are encouraged to use bicycles instead. The wet land projects are home to 140 species of birds, which enhance the symbiotic ambiance.
 
The media personnel were taken on a guided tour of the College campus to visit training facilities and were shown static display of engineer equipment. While interacting with Achievers, the media personnel were briefed on the rigorous training being imparted at Army Rowing Node (ARN) to the Rowers thereby preparing them to compete at International Events and earn laurels for the Country.
