The 24th Kalashree Festival Concludes on a Musical Note

Pune, February 21, 2022: The 3-day Kalashree Musical Festival organized by ‘Kalashree Sangeet Mandal’ held at Nilu Phule Hall in Navi Sangvi concluded with the classicalsongs by veteran vocalist, Aarti Anklikar-Tikekar and Viraj Joshi, grandson of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi on Sunday.

This year’s 24th Kalashree Puraskar’ was given to senior flutist Pt. Keshav Ginde by Pt. Vikas Kashalkar, President of Akhil Bharatya Gandharv College while the ‘Kalashree Yuva Puraskar’ was presented to Viraj Joshi by Aarti Anklikar-Tikekar. Usha Dhore, Mayor of Pimpri Chinchwad, Shila Deshpande, Deepak Chaitanya, Senior Author and Pandurang Mukhde of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharv College were present on this occasion.

Vocalist, Viraj Joshi started his performance with Raag Puriya Dhanashree’s Bada khyal ‘Sumiro Tero Naam’. After that, he sang a bandish- ‘Tirth Ko Chale’ from Bilawal and concluded by performing ‘Ata Kothe Dhave Mann’. He was accompanied by Gangadhar Shinde (harmonium), Prashant Pandav (tabla), Satyawan Patole and Digambar Shedule (Tanpura).

This was followed by classical performance by veteran vocalist, Aarti Ankalikar-Tikekar who sang ‘Payo Payo More Ram Naam Dhan’ in Raag Kedar followed by the bandish on ‘Ram Naam Japat Hoon Main’.  She concluded with Raag ‘Bhairavi’.
