The 8th ‘Gangadhar Swarotsav’ to present various musical performances

Pune, January 23: A musical program named ‘Gangadhar Swarotsav 2023’ by Swarninaad headed by vocalist Amol Nisal; one of the disciples of Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty has been organized from Friday, January 27 to Sunday, January 29 at the amphitheatre of Muktangan Balranjan Kendra in Sahakarnagar from 6 PM to 9 PM. The program in its 8th year is organized every year in memory of Gangadhar Bua Pimpalkhare.

On the first day, the festival will start with the performance of well known flautist Pt. Rajendra Kulkarni. Son and disciple of Pt. Balasaheb Kulkarni. He has also received musical training from Pt. Narayanarao Patwardhan. It will be followed by the performance of Vidushi Devaki Pandit, senior disciple of Ganasaraswati Kishori Amonkar and Pt. Jitendra Abhishekhi.

On Saturday, the second day of the event, young and talented Sarod player Abhishek Borkar from Maihar Seni Gharana, son and disciple of Pt Shekhar Borkar will present his recital. This will be followed by the classical music performance by Vocalist Amol Nisal.

On the last day, the show will start with the performance of renowned Vocalist Manjusha Patil from the Gwalior Gharana who has received training from Pt. Chintu Bua Mhaiskar, Pt. Kane Bua and Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar. Along with Khayal Gaiki, she has also mastered semi-classical music styles such as Thumri and Natya Sangeet.

The program will conclude with the performance of renowned Tabla and Sitar maestro Pt. Nayan Ghosh of Farukhabad Gharana. Pt. Ghosh has received training in singing, Tabla and Sitar from his father Padma Bhushan Pt. Nikhil Ghosh. His uncle, Pt. Pannalal Ghosh was a famous flute player who was also referred as the Father of North Indian flute. Pt. Nayan Ghosh has been teaching music in many reputed educational institutes in India and has been one of the most senior musicians with a vast repertoire.

Pandit Pramod Marathe will be awarded with Dnyanada Puraskar for his contribution in Classical Music as a Guru this year. This will be the second year of the award given to Gurus and it will be in the form of Rs. 11,000 and a momento.
