This year’s ‘Gaanatapaswini Mogubai Kurdikar’ Award to Guru Vidushi Meera Panshikar

Pune, 22nd January 2025: Natyasampada Pratishthan will continue the tradition of recognising contributions of senior and upcoming artistes via special awards in this year’s Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav, in its 11th edition.

This year’s ‘Gaanatapaswini Mogubai Kurdikar Puraskar’ will be conferred upon Guru Vidushi Meera Panshikar, a senior vocalist of the Jaipur Atrauli gharana, in recognition of her exceptional contributions in the field of music.

Recognizing their roles in the field of music accompaniment, veteran harmonium players, Dr. Arvind Thatte and Pt. Pramod Marathe will be honoured with the ‘Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar Sangatkar Puraskar’ this year, informed Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, Trustee of Natyasampada Pratishthan and a senior vocalist.

The ‘Gaanatapaswini Mogubai Kurdikar Puraskar’ consists of a cash prize of Rs. 51,000 and a citation, while the ‘Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar Sangatkar Puraskar’ consists of a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation.

This year’s festival will also include an introduction of ‘Ajit Belvalkar Smruti Yuva Puraskar’ in memory of the renowned entrepreneur, musician, and arts patron, Ajit Belvalkar who passed away a few months ago. Ajit was associated with the festival for many years, and his sudden and tragic demise has created a void which is difficult to fill. The first recipient of this award will be Anupam Joshi, the talented Sarod player, informed Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar. The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation.

All these awards will be presented at the 11th Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav, which will be held from February 7 to 9 at Mahalakshmi Lawns, near Rajaram Bridge, Karvenagar.
