‘Yoga Practice Brings Joy to Life’- Insights from Padma Shri Dr. Nagendra Guruji

Pune, 22nd January 2025 : It is necessary to give importance to one’s financial wealth, but along with that, it is equally essential to focus on maintaining good health. Yoga practice is the best way to achieve happiness in life, stated Padma Shri Dr. H.R. Nagendra Guruji, founder of Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhan Sanstha

Dr. Nagendra Guruji was speaking during the inauguration of the Vishwananda Centre Yoga Therapy Department, a joint initiative by Kamalabai Hukmichand Chordia Charitable Trust- Pune, and Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhan Sanstha (VYASA)- Bengaluru. The event took place in the Sancheti Auditorium at Dr. Nitu Mandke Bhavan, Tilak Road, Pune. The ceremony was presided over by Madhuri Misal, the Minister of State for Urban Development and Medical Education.

Dr. K. Satya Lakshmi- Director of the National Institute of Naturopathy, Dr. Amit Singh- Director of Arogyadham, and trustees Rajkumar Chordia, Madhubala Chordia, and Anand Chordia graced the occasion with their presence.

Dr. Nagendra emphasized that combining Ayurveda, Naturopathy and Yoga could significantly improve one’s quality of life. He noted that newer disease patterns have evolved in recent years, and although modern technology enables advanced treatment, it also presents new challenges. Yoga and Ayurveda boast of a rich historical legacy that has been effective for centuries.

Yoga practice possesses remarkable strength, capable of combating serious ailments. If one seeks happiness, yoga proves invaluable in achieving it, Dr. Nagendra added further.

Addressing the gathering, Madhuri Misal shared her positive experiences at the Bengaluru centre, highlighting yoga’s transformative power. She praised the comprehensive work of the new Vishwananda Centre and assured full government support to meet its operational needs.

Dr. K. Satya Lakshmi noted that excellent health can be maintained through a combination of naturopathy and yoga. She commended the substantial contributions of the National Institute of Naturopathy in Pune, which have greatly benefited the public.

During the event, distinguished students excelling in yoga courses were honoured. Medical Director Dr. Ajitkumar Mandlecha provided an overview of the Vishwananda Centre’s initiatives. The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Pallavi Kavhane while Rajkumar Chordia extended the vote of thanks.
