Three Leopards Spotted Near Chakan, Residents Alarmed”
Chakan, 16th May 2023: Chakan, a town near Pune, has been gripped by fear among its residents due to the presence of three leopards in a nearby residential area. The leopards’ sightings have created a sense of fear and anxiety among the locals, leading many to avoid venturing out in the morning when the felines are known to roam the streets.
A video capturing the presence of these three leopards in the vicinity of Chakan has caught the attention of forest officials. As the area is quite vast, no efforts have been made yet to capture the leopards. However, the local residents have raised concerns about the lack of awareness campaigns or measures taken by the Forest Department to address this issue.
The leopards have been spotted not only in Chakan but also in various villages across the Khed taluka, as well as parts of the city. This has resulted in the creation of an environment of fear among the residents. While some locations only experience leopard sightings, others have even witnessed attacks. Several incidents of leopard attacks have occurred in recent months in Bhivgav and Dhuvoli areas, resulting in the loss of lives for two individuals and causing severe injuries to many others. Consequently, the fear among the residents has increased.
