Tiger 3 Becomes Highest Grossing Diwali Release Ever
13 November 2023: The Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer film ‘Tiger 3’ has caused a sensation at the box office, marking a significant moment in Salman Khan’s career. Despite a lackluster Eid in 2023, Diwali proved to be a triumphant occasion for the actor, as ‘Tiger 3’ became the highest-grossing Diwali release in the history of Indian cinema. The film’s estimated figures align closely with the final collection, maintaining its success within Salman Khan’s Spy Universe franchise.
‘Tiger 3’ not only surpassed the records set by its predecessors, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai,’ but it also became Salman Khan’s highest-grossing film on Diwali. The film’s domestic box office collection stands at Rs 44.50 crore, with around Rs 43 crores earned in Hindi alone. However, in Tamil, the film garnered a modest Rs 2 lakhs on the first day, and in Telugu, it accumulated around Rs 1.3 crores.
While ‘Tiger 3’ exceeded the opening day collections of the previous ‘Tiger’ franchises, it fell short of surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s box office prowess. Despite the high expectations from fans, ‘Tiger 3’ couldn’t outperform Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawaan,’ which opened with Rs 57 crores and had a total collection of Rs 75 crores across all languages in India, respectively.
As the year unfolds, the competition between Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s films remains, leaving the question of whether ‘Tiger 3’ can dethrone Shah Rukh Khan from his box office reign in 2023 yet to be answered.
