Timely Tip-Off Helps Pune City Police Nab Girl While Assaulting An Elderly Woman In Purandar Taluka

Pune, 22 November 2021: The officials from Crime Branch Unit 6 of Pune city police have been able to prevent a serious crime as they had received a specific tip-off from an informer.

It was learned that a young woman doing business in Pune was going to go to Kol Vihire village in Purandar taluka and rob an elderly woman. Crime Branch Unit 5 kept an eye on the girl and caught her robbing. She has been handed over to the jury police.

Gauri (19) from Kolvihire village in Purandar resides in Chandannagar and sells vegetables.

Nitin Mundhe, a police naik of Crime Branch Unit 6, got information Gauri was preparing to rob a senior woman in her village. She is looking for a partner.

Accordingly, a team was sent to trail her on Sunday. She went inside a house and soon, there was a shout from the house. So the police immediately went into the house. At that time, she was found strangling an elderly woman. She was taken into custody and handed over to the Jejuri police station for further investigation.

Police officials said that Gauri had borrowed some money from her aunt. She was constantly asking to return the money. The business of selling vegetables did not make much profit. So she planned to rob the elderly woman in the village who lives alone. She often wears jewellery. Upon receiving his information, Gauri decided to rob her.

An officer said that Gauri was wearing a black jacket, jeans and sunglasses so that no one would recognize her when she went to loot. Her plan was to steal the jewellery. However, the elderly woman protested. She told the police that she had decided to kill the woman as she resisted the robbery.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Additional CP (crime) Ramnath Pokle, DCP (crime) Shriniwas Ghadge and ACP Laxman Borate.
