19th December 2023: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has recently introduced its latest affordable 7-seater car, the Toyota Roomian, into the Indian automotive market. Functioning as a 7-seater MPV, the Roomian is based on the Maruti Ertiga, marking Toyota’s entry into the realm of budget-friendly 7-seater MPVs. Distinguished by a fresh design language, the Toyota Roomian is tailored for those seeking an economical yet spacious vehicle.

Prospective buyers should be aware that the waiting period for the Toyota Roomian in the Indian market spans between 20 to 24 weeks, commencing post-booking. This duration is subject to variation based on factors such as city dealership, chosen variant, color option, and notably, a potentially extended waiting period for the CNG variant.

Pricing for the Toyota Roomian in India falls within the range of Rs 10.29 lakh to Rs 13.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The model is available in three variants – S, G, and V – and can be selected from five monotone color options: Spunky Blue, Rustic Brown, Iconic Grey, Cafe White, and Enticing Silver. The cabin boasts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, foot shifter, USB charging socket, height-adjustable driver seat, and premium leather seats. The second-row seats also feature a one-touch folding mechanism.

Safety features are a priority in the Toyota Roomian, including four airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors, camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Powering the Roomian is a 1.5-liter petrol engine generating 103 bhp and 137 Nm of torque, available with both five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions. The CNG variant, with the same engine, produces 88 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque, exclusively paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Roomian claims a mileage of 20.51 kmpl with the manual transmission, 20.11 kmpl with the automatic transmission, and Maruti claims a range of 26.11 km in the CNG version. Positioned as a unique offering in its price range, the Toyota Roomian primarily competes with the Maruti Ertiga, while models like Kia Carens and Toyota Innova Crysta are placed above its price segment in the Indian market.
