Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead of Post-Diwali Travel Rush in Pune Region

Pune, 23rd October 2025: The Pune traffic authorities have issued a joint advisory alerting commuters to heavy vehicular movement expected on key highways following the Diwali festival. Between October 24 and 27, 2025, traffic congestion is anticipated on major routes connecting Pune and surrounding cities.

According to the advisory:
NH-48 (Bengaluru–Mumbai Highway): Vehicles traveling from Kolhapur towards Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Mira-Bhayandar are likely to face increased traffic.

NH-50 (Nashik–Pune Highway): Heavy traffic is expected on the route from Nashik and surrounding areas towards Pune via Chakan.

NH-65 (Solapur–Pune Highway): Commuters traveling from Solapur towards Pune and nearby areas may experience a rise in vehicle volume.

The traffic department has issued the following recommendations for safe and smooth travel:
Prefer using public transport wherever possible.
Plan trips based on traffic conditions on highways.
Avoid peak hours from 7 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 9 pm.
Consider alternative routes to avoid congestion.
Strictly follow directions issued by police personnel.
Adhere to traffic rules and ensure a safe journey.

The advisory has been jointly released by the Superintendent of Police, State Highways, Pune, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City.
