Pune, 24th December 2023: As the festive cheer gears up in Pune for Christmas 2023, the Pune Traffic Police has announced a detailed traffic diversion plan around the Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road and its vicinity to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic during the celebrations.

In anticipation of the massive influx of visitors expected on Mahatma Gandhi Road in the Pune Camp area on December 25th, the Pune Traffic Police has taken proactive measures to prevent traffic congestion. They’ve announced a temporary traffic diversion plan for December 24th and 25th, keeping in mind the significant footfall that the area usually experiences during this festive period.

During this period, except for vehicles related to essential services such as fire brigade, police vehicles, and ambulances, specific traffic diversions will be implemented as follows:

Traffic heading from the Y Junction to M.G. Road will encounter a closure at 15th August Chowk and will be redirected towards Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.

Vehicles from ISKCON Mandir Chowk bound for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue & Arora Tower will be redirected via SBI House & Teen Tofa Chowk.

The route from Volga Chowk to Mohammad Rafi Chowk will be closed, redirecting traffic directly to Indira Gandhi Chowk via East Street Road.

Traffic moving from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahavir Chowk will face a halt and will be diverted from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Lashkar Police Station Chowk.

The passage from Sarbatwala Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk will be sealed off, rerouting vehicles via Tabut Street Road.

The Pune Traffic Police urge motorists to utilize the alternative routes provided and extend their cooperation to ensure a hassle-free and safe travel experience during the festive season. This strategic traffic diversion plan aims to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles while accommodating the heightened foot traffic expected in the area during Christmas celebrations.
