Traffic Diversions Announced for Jagannath Rath Yatra in Pune on Sunday

Pune, 18th July 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions in central parts of the city for the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra, scheduled to be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

According to a press note issued by the Traffic Branch, the restrictions and diversions will remain in force from 1 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. under the jurisdiction of the Vishrambaug traffic division. The arrangements are intended to ensure the smooth movement of the procession and prevent congestion along its route.

The Rath Yatra will begin at Sir Parashurambhau College (SP College) and proceed via Tilak Road, Puram Chowk, Bajirao Road, Shaniwar Chowk, Nagarkar Talim Chowk, Ramanbaug Chowk, Omkareshwar, Balgandharva, Jangli Maharaj Road, Khandojibaba Chowk and Alka Talkies Chowk. It will conclude at SP College after returning via Tilak Road.

Traffic on roads connected to the procession route will be diverted in phases as the Rath Yatra moves through different areas. Motorists travelling between Alka Chowk, Swargate, Puram Chowk, Bajirao Road, Shivajinagar and adjoining localities have been advised to use alternative routes, including Shastri Road, Senadatta Chowk, the riverside road and other nearby roads.

The police said traffic arrangements could be modified depending on the movement of the procession and prevailing road conditions. Commuters have been urged to avoid the Rath Yatra route wherever possible, follow instructions issued by traffic personnel and use alternative roads to reach their destinations.

Dr Sandip Bhajibhakare, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Pune, appealed to citizens to cooperate with the police and help ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the procession.
