Traffic Route Changes At Pune University Chowk; See Alternative Routes For Heavy Vehicles
Pune, 14th March 2023: The work of Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro is causing traffic jams at several places. Baner Road and Ganesh Khind road have become narrow due to this work. Pillar work will be done in Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk. Therefore, there is a possibility of adding to the traffic jam here. For this, entry of heavy vehicles is prohibited on these roads. The traffic police have appealed to the drivers to use an alternative route.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Kakasaheb Aje has given orders in this regard. Accordingly, changes have been made in traffic under the Dehu road, Wakad, Hinjewadi, and Sangvi traffic departments.
A metro and a double-decker flyover are being constructed at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk. Due to this work, there is a big traffic jam in this square. Heavy vehicles obstruct two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other vehicles. Therefore, heavy vehicles are prohibited on this route.
Changes in transportation
– Heavy vehicles coming from Mumbai to Pune from Mukai Chowk via Ravet and from Bhumkar Chowk, Wakad Naka will not go to Pune via Rajiv Gandhi Bridge. Heavy vehicles on this route will go directly from Mukai Chowk to their destination via Chandni Chowk.
– Heavy vehicles coming from Mumbai to Pune will not enter Bhumkar Chowk, Wakad Naka, or Radha Chowk via service road. Access to Puna University via Radha Chowk, Baner has been banned. Vehicles on this route will go straight to their destination via Chandni Chowk via Bhumkar Chowk, Wakad Naka, and Radha Chowk Over Bridge.
– Heavy vehicles coming from Mumbai to Pune on the old Mumbai-Pune highway will proceed to Pune from Central Chowk via Chandni Chowk or Dapodi Harris Bridge.
