Pune, 3rd June 2023: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials convened a meeting on Friday with the residents of Keshavnagar-Mundhwa to address the persistent issue of traffic congestion in the area. Notably, the meeting also extended an invitation to landowners who had been previously reluctant to part with their land for road widening. Additional Commissioner of PMC, Vikas Dhakne, MLA Chetan Tupe, and police personnel were among the attendees at this significant gathering.

Reliable reports suggest that the landowners have now agreed to relinquish their land for road widening, subject to receiving adequate compensation from the administration. PMC authorities are presently examining the technical aspects of the matter, and a final decision is anticipated in the near future.

The traffic congestion in Mundhwa-Keshavnagar has been a pressing concern for the city of Pune. Residents of the area have repeatedly voiced their frustration, often enduring hour-long traffic jams during peak hours. Nevertheless, the road widening initiative had encountered setbacks due to challenges in acquiring the necessary land. PMC officials, along with local politicians, had claimed that villagers were unwilling to part with their land.

MLA Chetan Tupe, representing the local constituency, confirmed the positive development in a tweet. He stated that the landowners have expressed their willingness to surrender their land, provided they receive fair compensation.
