Total of 161 AYUSH Wellness Centres approved under National AYUSH Mission

Ministry of AYUSH through Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) provides grant-in-aid to State Government in accordance with their State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) for AYUSH Wellness Centres including Yoga and Naturopathy. A total of 161 AYUSH wellness centres approved during 2015-16 to State/UTs.

Government of India has no plan to open AYUSH Kendra at villages in all over the country. However, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is provision of co-location of AYUSH facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Districts Hospitals (DHs), upgradation of the exclusive AYUSH hospitals and Dispensaries as well as setting up of AYUSH Gram wherein one village per block is selected for adoption of method and practice of AYUSH way of life and interventions of health care. In AYUSH village, AYUSH based lifestyles are promoted through behavioural change communication, training of village health workers towards identification and use of local medicinal herbs and provision of AYUSH health services.
