Truck Driver Arrested for Stealing Rs 35 Lakh Worth of Fridges and Truck in Pune

Lonikand, 26th October 2025: The Lonikand police have arrested a truck driver who fled with a consignment of refrigerators worth ₹35 lakh that was supposed to be delivered to Rajkot in Gujarat. The accused, identified as Nisar Ahmed Isak Khan (35), a resident of Nandurbar, was apprehended after an extensive police search.

According to the police, on September 25, a transport company’s truck from Ranjangaon departed from a warehouse in Katkewadi, Wagholi, carrying 120 refrigerators belonging to a well-known company, destined for Rajkot. However, the truck failed to reach the delivery location even after two days, and the driver’s phone was found switched off.

When the transport company tracked the truck’s GPS, it showed the vehicle’s location near Surat, Gujarat. Upon further checking, it was discovered that the driver had absconded with the truck and the refrigerators. A case was promptly registered at the Lonikand Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

During the probe, police traced the truck’s location to a petrol pump in Nandurbar district. A police team rushed to the spot and found the truck abandoned. The accused, Nisar Ahmed Khan, was later arrested from the area. Based on his interrogation, police recovered all 120 stolen refrigerators from a house in a nearby village.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Somay Munde (Zone 4) and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane, with the efforts of Senior Police Inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar, and Sub-Inspector Arjun Bendgude and police personnel Swapnil Jadhav, Santosh Andure, Malhari Sapure, Shubham Chinke, Sagar Jagtap, Kailas Salunke and Sudhir Shivale.
