Truck Driver Dies In Accident On Pune-Mumbai Expressway, Two More Injured
Pune 3rd August 2023 : One person died and two others were injured in a tragic accident reported near Borghat Police Chowki on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway earlier today. The incident took place at around 5:30 am due to which the traffic movement towards Mumbai was disrupted for over three hours.
According to police, a truck driver hit another truck from behind while moving towards Mumbai due to which a truck carrying glasses was overturned on the first lane at the expressway. Three people including a driver and two passengers sustained serious injuries in the accident and they were rushed to the Trauma Care Hospital for further treatment.
The driver identified as Sadanad Patil (43) succumbed to injuries during the treatment at the hospital while two others are still being treated. The traffic movement towards Mumbai came to a standstill between 5:30 am and 8:30 am and the vehicles were diverted from old Pune-Mumbai Highway. The glasses were spread all across the road after the accident.
IRB officials and other members from the rescue teams removed the truck and glasses from road using JCB machine and other equipment and the traffic was restored. However, since many vehicles were stranded on the expressway for over three hours the traffic movement towards Mumbai was slowed down.
