Pune, 10th October 2023: In a crucial update for commuters using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has announced a two-hour block on the expressway today, October 10. The block, scheduled from 12 noon to 2 pm, aims to facilitate the installation of a large directional board as part of the Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) work.

During this period, traffic heading towards Pune will be completely halted. Heavy vehicles will be stopped at the Khalapur toll gate, while light vehicles will be diverted to the old Mumbai-Pune highway. On the flip side, traffic from the old Mumbai-Pune highway to Shingroba Ghat will be resumed for light vehicles.

According to MSRDC, an overhead gantry for the directional board will be installed near and beyond the Amrutanjan Bridge, specifically at kilometer markers 45 and 45.800.

While the block will disrupt the flow of traffic from Mumbai to Pune, commuters traveling from Pune to Mumbai will not be affected. It has been confirmed that the old Pune-Mumbai highway at Shingroba Ghat will continue to operate for cars only.

Travelers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience. The two-hour block is a necessary measure for the installation of advanced traffic management systems aimed at enhancing road safety and navigation on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
