TWO YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF Rs. 50,000/- TO THEN SENIOR DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF SAIL IN A DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE

New Delhi, 07.11.2016 : The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Saket, New Delhi has convicted Sh. M.M. Singh, then Senior Deputy Director (Quality), SAIL, New Delhi and Shri S.C.Singh in Disproportionate Assets case.Sh. M.M. Singh was sentenced to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 50,000/- and Sh. S.C. Singh to undergo one year RI with fine of Rs. 25,000. The court further ordered that the assets of the convicts acquired either in their own names or in the name of their family members during the check period, i.e. equivalent to the value of DA, Rs. 58,79,153/- is liable to be confiscated.

CBI had registered a case against Shri MM Singh, Sr. Dy. Director(Quality), SAIL, New Delhi and others on 26.10.1998 u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act 1988. It was alleged that the accused had amassed assets worth over Rs.98 lakh which was disproportionate to known source of his income, during the period from January, 1990 to December, 1995 by misusing his official position as public servant.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the accused in the Designated Court, Delhi. The Trial Court found the accused person guilty and convicted them.
