Union Minister Shripad Naik Seriously Injured In Car Accident, Wife And Personal Assistant Dead
Bengaluru/Panaji, January 11, 2021: Union Minister and Goa MP Shripad Naik and his wife met with a serious car accident in Karnataka today. In this, his wife Vijaya Naik and personal assistant were killed. Naik is the Union Minister of State for Defence and AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy).
The incident took place near Hillur-Hosakambi village in Ankola taluk of Uttar Kannada district on Monday. The car diverted from the NH-63 to a sub-road, which is a shortcut to Gokarna. The road was in very bad condition and the driver lost control over the vehicle and the car turned upside down.
Naik’s wife Vijaya suffered head injuries and died while being brought to a private hospital in Ankola. Condition of Naik is said to be stable and he was shifted to Goa Medical College after preliminary treatment in Ankola.
Naik and four of his family members had visited Gante Ganapati temple at Yellapur in the morning. The minister and his family had performed the pooja in the temple and later they proceeded to Gokarna at around 7 pm.
Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office issued a statement saying that Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa condoled the death of Vijaya Naik, wife of Union Minister Shripad Naik. The police have registered a case and started the investigation. N
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, to ensure proper arrangements for treatment of Union Minister Shripad Naik in Goa. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and asked him to provide the best treatment. He said that Union Minister Shripad Naik should be shifted to Delhi if required. CM Pramod Sawant has reached the hospital.
After treatment, Naik’s condition is stable. It is said that six people were in the car.
