Union Road & Transport Minister approves various projects of Gujarat R & B department
Gandhinagar, Thursday: Gujarat Road and Building Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel today visited Union Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari at New Delhi and after long discussions Mr. Patel got an approval for various projects of National Highways in Gujarat worth Rs. 5400 crore. Union Minister of State for Agriculture Department Mr. Mohanbhai Kundariya accompanied Mr. Patel in the meeting.
Various issues related to state highways were discussed in the meeting; the issues which were discussed such as to widen the Bhavnagar-Somnath-Dwarka and Chiloda-Naroda National Highway No. 8; to close Bamanbor-Rajkot Veti Toll Plaza and various issues related to national highways inside Gujarat. After considering Mr. Patel’s appeal, the Union Minister has decided to shut the Beti-Rajkot Toll Plaza.
After attending the meeting Mr. Patel said that on last year works worth Rs. 437 crore were approved by Government of India from Central Reserve Fund. As a result of today’s meeting, the Union Government has approved new works worth Rs. 800 crore.
Mr. Patel said that the National Highway Authority will quickly initiate work after issuing the tender for Bhavnagar-Somnath-Dwarka road works. As the construction work of “Statue of Unity” at Sardar Sarovar is going on; the connecting road from Rajpipla to Devaliya Char Rasta will be made four-lane with an expenditure of Rs. 223 crore. Furthermore, it has been decided in the meeting that the work of six lane road from Kamrej Char Rasta to Kadodara Char Rasta of Surat will be quickly initiated and the Union Minister has suggested the concerned officers.
Secretary of Road and Building Department Mr. P. J. Patel and Chief Engineer Mr. N. K. Patel were remained present in the meeting.
