Unique exhibition of origami art enthralls Punekars

Pune, December 26, 2019: The complex yet interesting origami art pieces made from single sheet of colourful paper twisted in the shapes of various animals, birds, fish, superheroes, flowers, historical figures and jewellery among others captured Punekars fancy at the unique origami exhibition called Wonderfold ’19 held at Tilak Smarak Mandir today.
The exhibition, organized by Origami Mitra and Indutai Tilak Kala Kendra was inaugurated by Sudhakar Chavhan, former department head Abhinav College and dignitaries including Deepak Tilak, President and Trustee of Tilak Smarak Mandir, Dr. Geetali Tilak, Dean, Faculty of Modern Sciences & Professional Skills, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Rajni Deval, wife of Late Vishwas Deval, Dr. Anil Awachat, famous Origami artist were present at the function. The exhibition will be held till Sunday, December 29, from 10 am to 8 pm.

Artworks by 30 to 35 origami artists from Pune and Mumbai including that of renowned origami artist, late Vishwas Deval, and 12-year-old, Aryan Kashikar, the youngest of them all have also been put up on display at the exhibition.

Speaking at the event, Sudhakar Chavhan said, “Such exhibition is an attempt to make the art lovers aware of the beauty of origami, which has many advantages. The art of origami helps boost concentration in children. Its is not only used in craft but one can make a career out of it. Besides students this art should be learned by teachers as well as it can make teaching and learning process easy.”
