UPSC Announces CDS (I) 2025 Merit List; Over 500 Candidates Shortlisted for SSB Interviews
New Delhi, 31st December 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination (I), 2025, shortlisting 535 candidates for the next phase of selection, the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview. The merit list has been uploaded on the commission’s official website, upsc.gov.in.
UPSC officials stated that the shortlisted candidates qualified based on their performance in the written examination conducted earlier this year. The SSB interview will assess candidates for entry into various officer training academies of the Indian Armed Forces.
Gender-wise Break-up of Qualified Candidates
Of the 535 candidates who cleared the written examination:
473 are male candidates
62 are female candidates
Those selected will be considered for defence training courses scheduled to commence in 2026.
Academies and Training Courses
Candidates who have qualified will be eligible for admission to the following institutions:
Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun – 123rd Short Service Commission Course (Men)
Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala
Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad – Flying Training Course
Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
37th Short Service Commission Course (Men)
31st Short Service Commission Course (Women – Non-Technical)
Vacancies Available
As per UPSC data, the vacancy distribution includes:
275 posts for Short Service Commission (Men)
18 posts for Short Service Commission (Women – Non-Technical)
Selection Process and Important Notes
UPSC clarified that the current result is provisional. Final selection will be subject to:
Medical fitness as assessed by the armed forces
Verification of eligibility conditions and academic qualifications by the respective Service Headquarters
The commission also noted that individual marks of candidates will be released only after the declaration of the final result.

Download and retain the document for future reference
UPSC has further informed that details of marks and information regarding non-recommended candidates will be published on the website at a later date. A facilitation counter is also operational at the UPSC office in New Delhi to assist candidates.
