UREV Expands EV-Mobility Platform, Creates Over 150 Green Jobs in Pune
Pune, 4th March 2025: City-based electric mobility startup UREV Private Limited has expanded its EV-Mobility-as-a-Service (EV-MaaS) operations, creating more than 150 direct and indirect jobs while strengthening its footprint in last-mile delivery across Pune and nearby rural clusters.
Founded in 2021, the company provides electric Fleet-as-a-Service (EV-FaaS) solutions to businesses looking to shift from fuel-based delivery vehicles to zero-emission alternatives. Its fleet currently includes electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers catering to e-commerce platforms, retail distribution chains, pharmaceutical suppliers and essential goods networks in Pune and peri-urban areas.
Founder Niraj Gaikwad said the company was established with the aim of transforming urban logistics through structured electric mobility systems.
“Our goal is not limited to replacing fuel vehicles with electric ones. We want to systematically redesign last-mile logistics into an intelligent, accountable and scalable ecosystem that reduces carbon emissions while improving efficiency,” Gaikwad said.
Fleet-as-a-Service Model
UREV’s EV-Fleet-as-a-Service framework allows enterprises to deploy electric vehicles without heavy upfront capital investment. The platform integrates EV rentals under a subscription-based model, route optimisation tools, performance tracking dashboards and operational management systems designed to improve delivery speed and reduce downtime.
By combining electric vehicles with data-driven fleet monitoring, the company aims to reduce fuel dependency and help businesses meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.
Driver-Cum-Owner Initiative
Since its inception, UREV has generated over 150 employment opportunities. A key feature of its model is the Driver-Cum-Owner (DCO) programme, which enables delivery partners to gradually transition into vehicle owners.
“Electric mobility must become a pathway for socio-economic growth. Through our Driver-Cum-Owner model, delivery partners can move beyond daily wages and build long-term financial stability through asset ownership,” Gaikwad said.
Green Stations and Battery Plans
The company is also setting up decentralised ‘Green Stations’ in Pune — micro logistics hubs designed for EV charging, fleet readiness and quicker turnaround times. In addition, UREV is working with battery-swapping partners as part of its proposed Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) initiative to minimise rider downtime in high-density delivery areas.
Funding and Expansion Roadmap
In October 2025, UREV secured strategic funding to scale up its electric fleet, expand charging infrastructure, strengthen its fleet management technology and roll out its FOCO (Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated) expansion model. Under this model, investors can fund EV assets while operational control remains with the company.
Gaikwad said the funding reflects growing investor confidence in electric mobility as a sustainable and commercially viable logistics solution.
Looking ahead, UREV plans to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles by 2028 and expand operations to multiple cities. The company is also laying the groundwork for a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO) as part of its long-term growth strategy.
Headquartered in Pune, UREV positions itself as a climate-focused mobility enterprise integrating electric fleets, green infrastructure, technology-driven logistics and employment generation into a unified platform aimed at supporting India’s expanding EV ecosystem.
