Uyghur Rights Groups Back India’s Operation Sindoor, Condemn Pakistan’s Terror Links

New Delhi, 16th May 2025: In a significant show of international solidarity, leading Uyghur rights organizations have voiced strong support for India’s military action, Operation Sindoor, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The move, widely seen as a decisive response to persistent cross-border terrorism, has been praised for its focus on safeguarding national security and regional peace.
The World Uyghur Congress (WUC), a prominent global body advocating Uyghur human rights and based in Munich, issued a public statement lauding India’s stand against terrorism. The organization condemned Pakistan’s continued support for terror outfits and emphasized the need for global cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
“The WUC supports India’s right to protect its citizens and its borders. We condemn terrorism in all forms and recognize India’s efforts in maintaining stability in South Asia,” the statement read.
Indian Uyghur Community Echoes Support
Wasim, President of the Indian Uyghur Society (IUS), also expressed unequivocal support for Operation Sindoor. Taking to social media platform X, he declared, “We stand with India as it upholds its sovereignty, security, and the values of peace and stability in the region. At the same time, we condemn Pakistan’s support to terrorism.”
Representing Uyghurs settled in India, Wasim emphasized the community’s shared experience with persecution and conflict. “As a community that has long faced injustice and oppression, we understand the value of national security and territorial integrity,” he added. “India’s actions reflect its strong commitment to peace and justice.”
Uyghur Freedom Forum Also Speaks Out
Joining the chorus of support, Umit Hamit, leader of the Uyghur Freedom Forum (UFF) based in Munich, issued a strong condemnation of Pakistan’s backing of terror networks. He lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their precise and focused action against terrorist infrastructure.
Global Uyghur Community Stands With India
These statements reflect a growing sentiment of kinship between the Uyghur diaspora and the Indian populace. Beyond expressing support for the current military operation, Uyghur leaders emphasized values of mutual respect, regional cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
As international attention remains fixed on the evolving regional dynamics following Operation Sindoor, India’s growing list of global supporters—especially from communities familiar with systemic persecution—sends a clear message: the global fight against terrorism transcends borders, religion, and ethnicity.
