Vaishnavi Hagawane Case: Shocking Details Emerge from Autopsy Report

Pune, 23rd May 2025: In a significant development in the Vaishnavi Hagawane death case, police arrested her father-in-law, Rajendra Hagawane, and brother-in-law Sushil Hagawane, who had been absconding. Vaishnavi’s death was initially registered as a suicide allegedly driven by harassment at her in-laws’ home. However, suspicions of murder have emerged after injury marks were found on her body, raising serious questions about the actual cause of her death.
According to the post-mortem report, Vaishnavi died due to strangulation, and her body also bore several injury marks. The police have preserved her viscera for further forensic analysis to confirm the exact cause of death. This information was presented by the investigating officers while seeking extended police custody of the accused.
The report also indicates that Vaishnavi was assaulted with various weapons. A plastic pipe used in the assault has been seized by the police. Investigations are underway to determine who was involved in the physical abuse and whether financial motives were behind the alleged torture.
During the investigation, a car and a two-wheeler given as dowry during Vaishnavi’s marriage were seized. Authorities are also probing whether any additional items were handed over as dowry. Moreover, it was revealed that 51 tolas of gold, given to Vaishnavi as part of her ‘stridhan’ (woman’s property), were pledged as collateral at the Federal Bank by the accused. The police are now investigating whether this was done with Vaishnavi’s consent.
The court has granted police custody to allow further questioning of Rajendra and Sushil Hagawane regarding these matters, especially the financial exploitation angle and the circumstances leading to Vaishnavi’s tragic death.
