Vandalism for Terror: Five Arrested for Damaging Metal Detectors and Property at Pune Aeromall

Pune, 6th June 2023: In a peculiar incident that took place at the Aero Mall near Pune Airport, five men have been arrested for allegedly causing extensive damage to the Handheld Metal Detection (HHMD) devices, a plastic chair, and assaulting an unidentified individual with the intention to cause grievous harm.
The incident unfolded at Gate Number 1 of Aero Mall, where the accused individuals, identified as Milind Balaso Gadve (38 years old, a resident of Sanglivadi, Sangli), Manoj Ashok Pawar (26 years old, from Burmashell, Lohegaon), Ayush Anil Pawar (19 years old, residing in Burmashell, Lohegaon), Suraj Raju Garud (23 years old, from Burmashell, Lohegaon), and Omkar Babu Barneth (18 years old, residing in Burmashell, Lohegaon), accompanied by an unidentified accomplice, entered the mall premises. Their motive was to create a sense of terror by vandalizing public property.
The mall’s head manager, Pradeep Kharat (37 years old, hailing from Satav Vasti, Kharadi), promptly filed a complaint at the Vimanltal Police station, leading to the subsequent arrest of the perpetrators. The police have charged the accused individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offense committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), as well as section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. The investigation is currently underway.
