Victory for Elderly Couple: Regain Possession Of Home After Three-Year Legal Battle In Pune
Bibvewadi, 1st April 2023: After three years of legal proceedings, a senior couple in Pune, Dr. Avinash Phatak, 72, and his wife Madhuri Phatak, 67, have regained possession of their home in Bibvewadi. The tenant, who had not paid rent and refused to vacate the property, has agreed to leave the house by April 30 and attend a court hearing on April 5. The couple had been fighting for their house for three years, but the tenant refused to cooperate, even skipping court hearings.
On March 29, the couple staged a protest that grabbed the attention of the Pune Pulse, which then escalated the matter. With the assistance of MNS leader Vasant More and BJP MLA Madhuri Misal, the tenant was called for a meeting, and they convinced him to return the house to the Phatak couple.
The tenant was given relief from paying the past rent but must attend the court hearing. After the hearing, he will leave the house, and the case will be dropped. “On explaining the person, he agreed to give the rent, but the trust issue would again come up, so we decided to give the house back to them. And the old couple has also agreed to not take the pending rent from them,” said MNS leader Vasant More.
The Phatak couple expressed their appreciation to everyone who assisted them in their fight for justice. They can finally rest easy, knowing that they will soon be able to move back into their home after a long and difficult legal battle.
