Pimpri, 1st April 2023: Despite a government policy implemented in 2017 to encourage women’s entrepreneurship, many women in Pimpri-Chinchwad city are struggling to obtain financial assistance to start their own businesses. Although several schemes have been created to support women entrepreneurs, they are not being effectively implemented.

Women entrepreneurs in the city have applied for loans from banks and other sources, including Annapurna, Udyogini, Mudra, Pradhan Mantri Yuva Rozgar, Prime Minister’s Employment Creation Program, and Micro and Small Industries. However, many women are reporting that their loan applications are being rejected due to collateral requirements.

Under the government policy, women up to 50 years of age are eligible for subsidized interest rates and other facilities such as payment of part of the loan interest by the government. The aim of these schemes is to increase the number of women entrepreneurs and create employment opportunities.

Despite this, the growth of women entrepreneurs in the city has slowed down. Many women are also not aware of the schemes and policies available to them.

The government offers a provision scheme facility of Rs 15 lakhs to Rs one crore at a rate of 25 per cent to 35 per cent of the capital investment of the project, with a five per cent interest rate. Detailed information is available on the website of the Industries Department of the State Government and applications can be made through the District Industry Centre.
