Viman Nagar: Notorious Robber Arrested for Looting People by Impersonating as Policeman

Pune, August 26, 2020: The officials from Vimantal police station of Pune City Police have arrested a notorious robber who had been looting people by pretending to be a policeman. There are 11 cases registered against the accused.

Acting on a tip-off received by head constable Ashok Atole, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Jubairahmad Mujawar of the Detection Branch (DB) nabbed the accused on August 21 near Axis Bank on Sakorenagar road in Viman Nagar. The arrested person has been identified as Abalu Jafar Irani (45) of Irani Vasti.

According to police, the accused is involved in four cases in Pune city. Gold, silver ornaments worth Rs 4.26 lakh and two two-wheelers have been seized from his possession. There are 11 cases registered against him in Satara and Nashik.

Additional CP (East region) Sunil Phulari, DCP (Zone 4) Pankaj Deshmukh and ACP (Yerwada division) Laxman Borate supervised the police team which included Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar, Police Inspector (Crime) Balwant Mandge and API Mujawar, policemen Avinash Shewale, Atole, Mohan Kale, Ramesh Lohkare, Vishal Gade, Sanjay Adhari, Sachin Bhingardive, Nana Karche, Vishwanath Gone, Kiran Abdgire, Prashant Kapure and Wasim Sayyed.
